Department: Promotion & Design Services SUMMARY

The Lead Senior Promotion and Events Specialist supports the global promotion activity of The First Church of Christ, Scientist [TFCCS] and of the Christian Science Publishing Society [CSPS].

This position is part of a collaborative promotion service within the Promotion & Design Services Group [P&DSG]. P&DSG is a service-based organization that shapes and guides, from a metaphysical foundation, the promotion and extension of products, services, and events that constitute the “healing and saving” resources of The Mother Church. The Group shapes, supports, and shepherds promotional activities, ensuring an inspired and healing voice and message for each product and need. The promotion service operates as a center of excellence [CoE] to maintain appropriate quality and consistency across the organization. P&DSG collaborates with client departments to develop and implement the overall promotion vision of the publications, products, communications, marketing and promotional materials of TFCCS and CSPS.

Aligned with the mission of P&DSG and under the direction of the Head of Promotion and Events:

As a Lead Senior Promotion Specialist, the role will primarily be fulfilled as a Subject Matter Expert [SME] in promotions for the rest of the organization. While not a CFT member in other areas, this position supports the CSPS / Church Product Owners and Client Department Managers who prioritize the product, editorial, mission activity, and promotions work for their specific product. The position will help define, develop, implement, troubleshoot, manage, and oversee the promotional campaigns of The First Church of Christ Scientist. This also includes overseeing the organization’s promotional relationships with vendors with a primary focus on streamlining our promotional efforts to serve multiple clients.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Promotional Copywriting (50%)

  • Writes promotional copy for more sophisticated products and events, including advertisements, posters, point of sale documents, and flyers
  • Offers revisions and edits for work of other team members

Social Media (20%)

  • Initiates strategy discussions with P&DSG management and client departments.
  • Helps to oversee the implementation of social media strategy.
    • Edits promotional copy for various social media channels written by team members
    • Coordinates efforts with Design, UX, and Analytics teams within P&DSG

Events (20%)

  • Oversees team efforts in peer-to-peer event planning for products and initiatives, both online and in-person
  • Includes working with A/V, set up crews, outside vendors, and other staff

Periodical Ad Administration (5%)

  • Oversees ad scheduling and production timelines for ads and classified ads placed in the Christian Science periodicals.
  • Works with the Promotion & Events Manager on ad strategy

Management of Staff (less than 5%):

  • Supports Head of Promotion & Events for the hiring, directing, training of new staff
  • Responsible for establishing and supporting a working environment that fosters individual and collective creativity

Education/Experience

JOB REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and seven years of promotion/events/social media/copywriting experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Track record of thinking strategically and executing incrementally
  • Experience generating insights from digital consumer behavioral data
  • Experience utilizing and communicating financial calculations for promotions (ROI, CLTV, CBA, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics and other analytic tools
  • Salesforce or other customer database experience preferred
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other email system experience preferred

Work Environment

Preference for onsite work in Boston, but may possibly work remotely with periodic visits to the Boston office as needed.

Engagement with Christian Science

Understanding of the Church’s mission and a dedication to its values which include fairness, honesty, respect, and brotherly love. Membership in The Mother Church required. Christian Science Primary Class Instruction preferred.
