The Pastor of Connections will develop, launch and support a young adult ministry on each campus. This person will work with staff and lay leaders on each campus to connect young adults on their respective campus to ways to join a serving team through the church and get connected in Group Life. You will also provide multiple opportunities throughout the year for young adult ministries to connect through campus and in larger centrally organized events.

The Pastor of Connections will be a highly motivated leader who will build the processes that helpnew people take their next steps at Grace Chapel, moving them from first-time guest to full participation in the church. Their connections ministry will help people connect in several ways: to each other in small groups, to ministry through volunteering inside and/or outside the church walls, and to the church through membership. The Pastor of Connections will build, implement and support the visitor assimilation (welcome) process across all campus, through training and equipping campus staff and volunteers.

We believe that the teaching, training, and equipping of our next generation of young adults is one of the essential callings of each believer. This person will coach and connect our young adults with each other through group life, community engagement and strategic events throughout the year that will integrate and connect them into the life of the church.

The Connections pastor will build, lead and measure the impact of a new culture of welcoming new people by helping them find belonging and community at Grace Chapel. They serve as the point person to grow and cultivate our assimilation process, connection events, and works with the campus teams to promote the growth and vitality of discipleship and outreach initiatives.

This position has the following responsibilities:

Young Adults:

  • Work with volunteers, staff, and young adult leaders to develop, implement and sustain through coaching a consistent approach to young adult ministry, connecting them into the life of their respective campus.
  • Model a relational Young Adult group at one of our campus where one does not currently exist, identifying and developing a volunteer leader to lead this group in the future.
  • Establish connections between the young adults (18-to-30-year-old) at each campus.
  • Create connections in the area colleges and Universities in the greater Boston area to develop relationships with and minister to young adults as they leave college.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across campuses, to provide a time and place to create a consistent and well-integrated young adult ministry environment across Grace Chapel. This includes designing, planning, and executing regular gatherings, discipleship, and leadership development opportunities.
  • Organize cross campus young adult events to foster fun and fellowship for young adults across all campus at least 3 times per year

 

Visitor Connections:

  • Develop and maintain focus on the specific strategy to ensure the consistent, high-quality experience for visitors of all ages on every campus.
  • Using relational ministry, youll influence and lead the spiritual growth of others; guiding teams, staff and volunteers to help people fully integrate into the body of the church and build community together.
  • Develop, implement and sustain a clear engagement pathway for visitors, including an effective process to follow up with visitors.
  • Throughout the year, evaluate and iterate best practices regarding the accessibility of individuals looking to make connections.
  • Enthusiastically train and mentor Welcome Team leaders and Connection Coaches to help with all areas of the visitor experience, that will walk alongside first time visitors through their engagement and assimilation to the life of the church.
  • Work with Connection Coaches on all campuses to mobilize people to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving and sharing their gifts in ministry.
  • Align our process for those with questions about their faith, so they have awareness and attend our Next Steps class as they move closer to God.
  • Share your ideas with campus teams and/or central ministries for bringing people together through outreach and social activities, this helps people move from casual attendees to fully connected and devoted followers of Christ.
  • In partnership with the Pastor of Community Engagement, seek opportunities in local communities to reach people who are far from Christ.
  • Develop and execute training for staff and volunteers on visitor engagement and assimilation.
  • Work with Campus Pastors in the recruitment and development of lay leaders to lead and train volunteers on each campus with the Visitor Assimilation Process.
  • Partnering with Campus Pastors, Pastor of Discipleship and the Executive team, provide a high quality, consistent Annual Vision Gathering/vision week experience for our volunteers across all campus.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to our welcome team leaders including training on the available tools like our CHMS.

Pastor of Connections skills and qualifications
A candidate for Pastor of Connections should have the following prerequisites and qualifications:

  • Leader: A gifted and energetic team-builder and an inspirational leader who can cast a clear and compelling vision and who will equip people to find, develop and act on their God-given calling.
  • Pastor/Shepherd: A pastor who longs to embrace, assimilate and care for those believers and seekers whom God will bring to this campus.
  • Theological Depth: A continuous learner with a strong theological foundation and biblical understanding that enables him or her to function with effectiveness and discernment.
  • Champion of Diversity: An individual who values the diversity that God has brought to Grace Chapel and will work to increase it.
  • Self-starter: Someone who is entrepreneurial and internally driven to achieve the mission God is laying out for us and able to manage her/himself accordingly.
  • High Emotional Intelligence: Skilled in listening, understanding and connecting people with each other and helping them understand where they fit in the big picture of the church.

 

Education and training requirements

  • Hold at least a BA/BS in Christian Ministry, or related field. M.Div or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of ministry work at a growing church.
  • Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Practices personal spiritual disciplines and leads with humility, character, and love.
  • Able to clearly communicate and embrace Grace Chapel Churchs mission, vision, values and strategy.
  • Experience leading volunteer teams, developing and equip leaders.
  • Has a willing spirit to help support each ministry within Grace Chapel Church to the best of their ability.
  • Gifted in pastoring, teaching or worship leading as well as project management, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Relational skills and the ability to develop teams.
  • A self-motivated leader, capable of managing self and others, and effective in developing and implementing church systems.
  • Problem-solver attitude; servant-minded; ability to multi-task and set priorities cheerfully; thrives in fast-paced environment; comfortable in ambiguity, being able to bring order from chaos; go-getter mindset that creates solutions when faced with problems.
  • Have a natural ability to connect quickly with people and encourage them to take a next step in their faith journey.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, challenging environment with multiple competing priorities; yet offers loads of fun while winning one more for Christ.
  • Strong time management skills including the ability to multi-task on various projects and priorities under fixed schedules and in pressure situations.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Preference for working in a high-level collaborative environment promoting teamwork.
