Racial Identity & Trauma Clinician
Trinity Boston Connects (TBC), a respected social justice nonprofit, is seeking a licensed Staff Clinician to join this dynamic community change organization. The mission of Trinity Boston Connects to heal youth of color from the traumatic impact of systemic racism. We are looking for an individual who believes passionately in this mission and understands the necessity to address systemic racism from multiple angles. The Staff Clinician will work within the clinical care pathway to provide counseling services to adults working with youth.
If you are interested in working on a team that “walks the talk” and are seeking an opportunity to deepen and amplify the impact of our organization in the city of Boston for years to come, please consider the following detailed description and apply!
The Organization
TBC was born out of the social justice mission of Trinity Church in the City of Boston. We believe healing the traumatic impact of systemic racism cannot occur without programmatic interventions integrating three Community Practices: Trauma Inclusion, Restorative Justice, and Racial Equity. Incorporating these practices forms the basis of our programming, including our direct services for youth and our convening, training, and consulting work with other youth-serving organizations throughout the City of Boston.
Our Youth Development & Leadership Division integrates programs that create safe and supportive communities that inspire youth to develop the social-emotional learning (SEL) skills necessary for academic, life, and career success. These programs include: Sole Train: Boston Runs Together, Trinity@McCormack, and
Trinity Education for Excellence Program (TEEP) provides direct services to nearly 1,000 youth and families.
In addition, the communities in which our youth live, learn, and develop must also change to heal the trauma truly. It is not enough to help young people navigate oppressive environments; we strive to help change the schools, institutions, and organizations within our programs operate so that they can be more supportive and nurturing of the youth they serve. To accomplish this, we develop and share best practices with other youth-serving organizations through our Trinity Boston Counseling Center and
Organizational Equity Practice. We provide clinical services through TBCC, and through OEP, we convene, train, coach, and consult Boston youth-serving organizations to effect enduring change in the systems and organizations that impact an additional 15,000 youth and families.
TBC has a staff of 30 and an annual budget of over $3 million. Our revenue sources are divided roughly equally between grants from foundations and corporations, charitable contributions from individuals, contracts, events, and Trinity Church grants designated for social justice work. An independent 24-member Board of Directors governs TBC.
Trinity Boston Counseling Center (TBCC) was founded in 2002 with a mission to extend access for people of color (POC) who needed a place for quality mental health care that was culturally responsive and attended to the whole person with an emphasis on spirituality. We continue to do this with a dedicated focus on the mental health and holistic wellness of Boston youth workers. We provide clinical space for youth workers to bring their whole selves into the therapeutic relationship, including their racial identity, creating the conditions for healing from the trauma of systemic racism and increasing their effectiveness as youth workers.
TBCC focuses its services on providing individual therapy, group therapy, consultation, and training for youth workers. Youth workers (Adults working with Youth) are individuals who spend the bulk of their time.
(vocational or volunteer) providing services for, mentoring, supporting, and teaching youth (ages 0-24).
In our extensive experience with youth, youth workers, and youth-serving agencies, we have found that youth workers need more support, and increased support creates better outcomes for young people.
The Moment
This is an exciting time to join our community! TBC has just completed a strategic plan to achieve a more profound and broader impact in the community through a more precise focus and increased integration of offerings.
Over the next two to three years, TBC will implement this new strategy, reorganizing staff with new roles and greater collaboration and integration, aiming to provide better, more holistic support to the youth and organizations we serve. The Solihten Institute accredits us, and we are looking to increase our service offerings. As a vital part of a small team, this person will have the opportunity to work within a clinical team providing individual and group therapy to youth workers. In addition, this person will support our clinical training program by offering trainees supervision and contributing to the overall clinical training program.
