Skills required:
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a Catechist or teacher
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
- Bachelor's degree required (theology, teaching, or related field a plus)
- Ability to follow directions, multi-task, and work independently
- Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Microsoft Office (including Access) knowledge a plus
- ParishSoft knowledge a plus
- Google classroom experience a plus
Responsibilities will include:
- Curriculum development of one-year programs for both Sacraments in collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation
- Supervising and/or leading all learning sessions for First Reconciliation/First Eucharist preparation
- Sessions take place monthly on Sunday mornings after the 9:30 Mass at Sts. Martha & Mary in Lakeville (two groups of parent/child for 7 lessons to equal 14 sessions)
- Posting of online supplemental materials through Google classroom
- Walkthrough of First Reconciliation & Coordination of First Reconciliation liturgy
- Walkthrough of First Eucharist & Coordination of First Eucharist liturgies (2 may be needed)
- Supervising and/or leading all learning sessions for Confirmation preparation
- Leading Orientation meeting for Parents & Candidates
- Sessions take place twice a month for 10 sessions on Sunday evenings 6:30 – 8:00 in the hall at Sts. Martha & Mary, Lakeville
- Coordinating a day retreat/day of reflection one month prior to Confirmation in Fall 2023
- Incorporating opportunities for service
- Interviewing all candidates prior to reception of the Sacrament in the Fall of 2023
- Ensuring all candidates select a suitable sponsor and provide Sponsor Certificate
- Providing for Reconciliation opportunities prior to reception of the Sacrament (can be part of day retreat)
- Walkthrough for Confirmation
- Coordination of Confirmation liturgy
- Assisting with annual faith formation registration
- Maintaining email correspondence with parents and participants
- Tracking attendance for both sacramental programs
- Volunteer recruitment, training, supervision, and child safety compliance
- Verification of Baptismal records prior to the reception of the Sacraments
- Official recording of First Eucharist and Confirmation in parish logbooks and ParishSoft
- Attendance at staff meetings at 12:30 on the third Monday of each month
