The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland was founded on April 23, 1847. Under the leadership of the Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, bishop of Cleveland, it is the twenty-third largest diocese in the United States. The diocese encompasses the Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne and Ashland. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Donor Relations and Communications is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of the Catholic Community Foundation’s (CCF) donor relation, cultivation and communication programs.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the CCF’s donor relation programs which focus on outreach and communication initiatives dedicated towards CCF’s major donors.
Supports the coordination and implementation of the CCF’s special events .
Coordinates the design and production of CCF collateral publications in support of major gift fundraising initiatives. Most notably this includes the Annual Report.
Writes solicitation letters, press releases, speeches and collateral materials as appropriate in support of CCF communications strategies and objectives, including those undertaken on behalf of the development and fund-raising efforts of diocesan secretariats and offices.
Plans, directs and leads the #WeGiveCatholic annual campaign with the more than 200 participating schools, parishes and Catholic ministries.
Assists the CCF’s planned gift and major gift marketing/advertising programs.
Manages all social media efforts and utilizes best-practices to communicate our message to the CCF’s major donors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church. Demonstrated commitment to the values, beliefs, traditions and teachings of the Catholic Church. Ability to uphold Catholic values, beliefs, traditions, and teachings of the Catholic Church in working with donors and colleagues toward excellence in Christian Stewardship.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Equivalent experience, certification, and training in lieu of a bachelor’s degree will be considered. Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum of five to seven years of experience in major and planned gift donor relations, marketing, sales, client services, or similar industry.
Successful experience in creating and sustaining fruitful professional relationships.
Enthusiasm and excitement in making the case for support, while recognizing the needs and situation of each audience.
Demonstrated success in designing and managing social media messaging in support of giving and relationships.
Excellent written and oral communication and networking skills with the ability to engage, inspire, and educate in personal meetings and group settings. Successful experience in public speaking and presenting to groups and individuals.
Outstanding organization and prioritizing for successful implementation and execution of year round initiatives.
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
Robust and successful experience in collaboratively working with diverse groups toward achieving goals and fulfilling outcomes.
Experience and ability to manage data relative to donor relationships. Fluency with database software a plus.
Experience in best practices in stewardship, fundraising, or sales management.
