Program Statement: Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking a motivated, mission-driven and knowledgeable social worker to join Migration and Refugee Services (MRS). Our MRS department resettles approximately 450 refugees annually from countries including Bhutan, Burma, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Eritrea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, and Ukraine. We respect the dignity of each person and provide a supportive environment where each individual and culture is celebrated. Building upon the courage and strength of these newcomers, we seek to empower them to achieve self-sufficiency and independence.
What you will do:
Provide new client intake and orientation for refugees seeking employment and continuing educational opportunities.
Develop, implement and facilitate individual and group job search and job readiness workshops.
Document program participation and assess skills learned by students.
Determine additional education needs such as GED classes, vocational training, or higher education.
Collaborate with staff from other social service agencies, community colleges and businesses to develop additional resources for program participants and maintain good working relationships, and to ensure clients’ needs are being met.
Complete initial employability assessments (EA) and Individual Employment Plan (IEP) on all participants and update as required.
