Legal Office Manager

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland was founded on April 23, 1847. The Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic is Bishop of Cleveland. It is the twenty-third largest diocese in the United States. The diocese encompasses the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne, and Ashland. There are more than 670,000 Catholics in the Diocese and Catholic Charities- Diocese of Cleveland is one of the world's largest diocesan systems of social services. One hundred eighty-five parishes, 110 Catholic schools, one pastoral center, and one mission office within the diocese. The cathedral is the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, located in downtown Cleveland. Primary Function:
The Diocese of Cleveland is currently seeking qualified candidates for Legal Office Manager. Under the direction of the General Counsel, this role serves to uphold and advance the mission, values, ministry, and evangelization charge of the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Cleveland by providing organizational and substantive support to legal counsel staff.

Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the legal office to include reception and phones, scheduling appointments and keeping calendars, composing and distributing routine correspondence, maintaining appropriate supplies inventory, and coordinating/tracking assignments and deadlines.
Communicate with clients professionally, promptly, and effectively to obtain and provide information relating to particular matters.
May be involved in research and analysis of law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
File and record documents relating to real estate transactions and other matters.
Monitor the annual budget and spending of the Office for compliance.
Act as a law librarian, keep and monitor legal volumes and ensure legal books are up-to-date.
Organize and maintain file and document management and file and document retrieval systems.
Conduct periodic assessments and make operational recommendations toward continual improvement in best practices to General Counsel for consideration and approval.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic Church, its teachings, and traditions. Strong Commitment to the mission, ministry, and evangelization charge of the Roman Catholic Church.
Bachelor’s degree, one to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Two to three years of successful office management, preferably in a legal environment.
Sophisticated discernment and appropriate discretion in handling sensitive, confidential, and critical information.
