About the Position:
Saint Ignatius High School, a highly successful Jesuit college preparatory school for boys in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking an 8th Grade Language Arts teacher for the REACHing MAGIS Fall Academic Program. This is a seasonal, non-contract position paid hourly for the period beginning September 10, 2022 through December 17, 2022. The Fall Academic Program hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The REACHing MAGIS program is designed to identify and inspire middle school students who possess the potential and the commitment to become successful high school students through various intensive and academic enrichment classes.

As a teacher in the REACHing MAGIS Program, the primary responsibility is to provide a quality, consistent and high-level education to the students the REACHing MAGIS program serves. As an 8th Grade Language Arts teacher, the primary responsibility is to ensure that our young men are learning at a grade-level appropriate pace to be competent students at Saint Ignatius High School.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:
Maintain knowledge of high school entrance standards to prepare students for the academic excellence provided at Saint Ignatius High School and other area schools of excellence.
Assist in carrying out the curriculum to the developmental needs of middle school students in the REACHing MAGIS program.
Assist in communicating the learning needs of our students to the Program Directors and/or parents.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 1 year of teaching experience
Current certification or licensure for grades 4-8 preferred

About Saint Ignatius High School:
Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 92 cities in an 11-county region. Located in close proximity to downtown Cleveland in the vibrant and energetic Ohio City neighborhood, the school occupies 23 acres and includes 19 buildings and three athletic fields. The school has 114 faculty members, 89 percent of whom hold advanced degrees. Fifty-six percent have spent 10 years or more teaching at Saint Ignatius.
Saint Ignatius is also home to The Welsh Academy, a middle school for boys from local families of modest economic means, founded in 2019. The academy enrolls more than 60 boys in grades 6-8 and occupies Kesicki Hall on campus.

To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 17 Advanced Placement (AP) and 21 honors subjects.
