Overview:
The Youth & Urban Ministry Coordinator position is for a person who has firmly decided to commit their lives to the communication and demonstration of the good news of Jesus Christ. This position is for a person who is prayerfully called to restore hope to at-risk children, youth, and their families develop holistically in an urban context. The Urban Missionary will invest in and develop the youth, young adults and volunteers who participate in our Adopt-A-Block Project. The Urban Missionary will pray, engage in the life of the community, build intentional relationships with youth and volunteers, preach the good news of Jesus Christ and assist The Salvation Army in carrying out the mission of Urban Impact within East Cleveland.

The Youth & Urban Ministry Coordinator should possess the following attributes:

The Youth & Urban Ministries Coordinator should:

  • To invest in the lives of children, teens and young adults, developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities To conduct an ongoing and aggressive evangelical ministry with the specific purpose of introducing children, teens and young adults to Jesus Christ
  • To provide an environment and ministry opportunities in which children, teens and younger adults can grow and mature in their faith and grow into a walk of holiness

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Youth Outreach Ministry
Carrying out the spiritual and overall mission of The Salvation Army
Spiritual formation
Relationship building with youth, families and community
Youth recreational activities and other events
Gathering and disseminating resource information
Developing home visitation ministry
Developing and conducting activities for spiritual growth including: weekly teen worship, Sunday School, VBS, Corps Cadets, bible studies,
Recruiting volunteers
Coordinating with other corps programs to bring participants to the worship community
Transporting youth to Sunday service and other worship/fellowship opportunities
Adopt-A-Block
Providing vision for project by evaluating the needs and solutions volunteers/interns can provide for the community
Overseeing direction of the program and verifying the needs and goals are met
Recruiting, training, developing and appreciating volunteers from the community
Networking with community partners
Managing budget, reports, statistics, contact information required for a successful program

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
A degree in Youth Ministry, or related field, Graduate of Railton School and/or equivalent experience
Valid driver license
Ability to pass an FBI and BCII Background Check
Commitment to evangelical outreach
Commitment to participation in training programs and learning Biblical, theological and ministry applications
