About this Event

About this event

The Pasadena Department of Transportation, Day One, and Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition presents its 5th annual Pasadena Walktober, an annual event to get people walking in Pasadena. Whether you walk for physical health, mental health, to meet people, to see new things, admire our historic architecture or simply to get things done (maybe all of the above!), we recognize and celebrate walking!

As part of this year’s Walktober, Pasadena Heritage will offer a free docent-guided tour of historic Old Pasadena. Throughout its long history, Old Pasadena has been the site of changes and trends that would later come to define Pasadena. Its development into a thriving commercial district during the late 19th century was a harbinger for the economic prominence that Pasadena would attain in the early 20th century. Far from being an old relic of the past, Old Pasadena is in fact the foundry of fate, a place where Pasadena’s past and present meld together to forge the future. Let one of our trained docents lead you through the historic district and reveal its many hidden and unusual architectural details. October’s tour will include historic Dayton Street and some of our first Black-owned businesses, the first fire station, and Friendship Baptist Church to name a few of the prominent sites.

Tours last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes and cover nearly 1 mile. Reservations are required.
