Position Summary:
The College Counselor will educate families and guide students through the complexities of the college admission process. They will help facilitate students’ applications to college, which will entail working closely with students to ensure accurate and complete applications, collaborating with faculty on the required forms, and work closely with university admissions offices.

The full-time College Counselor will provide college counseling to juniors and seniors. they will also facilitate group guidance classes regarding various issues related to college and career planning, and college transition. The College Counselor will hold parent conferences to answer college application and admissions questions and to discuss issues which may include academic progress, standardized test interpretation, and other related matters.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of colleges and universities nationwide, including their academic programs, admissions policies, and financial aid policies and procedures. Ideal candidates will bring experience working with adolescents as a college counselor in a secondary school setting, assisting students with their plans for life after high school and be able to support the school’s mission of fostering young men and women of academic excellence and good moral character through a commitment to the ideals of catholic education.

Knowledge of:
Academic, vocational, and personal guidance
Early adolescent development issues
College admission process
Financial aid process
NCAA, UC, Cal State and other university eligibility requirements
Student Information Systems
Transcript evaluation and graduation requirements

Requirements

Education & Experience:
Master’s Degree in counseling
Must hold Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential or be enrolled in PPS program
3+ years of successful high school counseling experience
