POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Director affirms and supports marriage and family life in our Multicultural Archdiocese. Through leadership training and collaboration with parishes and diocesan departments we promote, support and sustain families at all stages of growth. Our mission is to serve parishes and families by offering programs pertaining to marriage preparation, marriage enrichment, Divorced and Separated and Widowed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Associate Director represents the Roman Catholic Church, thus, they are expected to not only conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the church in performing their work they are to be role models to fellow workers and the community.

  • Establishing goals and objectives to support and sustain the Marriage and Family Life Ministry throughout the Archdiocese and its surrounding dioceses.
  • Analyzing and prioritizing the Executive Summary for Pastoral Committee Survey on the Marriage and Family. Identified Priorities:
    • creating, implementing and maintaining an online “Marriage and Family Life Resource Guide”
    • organizing and/or creating Seminars, Workshops and Trainings for parish and school leadership (paid and volunteer) on different areas of Marriage and Family Life such as:
      • the effects pornography on marriage and family life
      • Marriage Enrichment Programs and Retreats
      • Available Convalidation Preparation Programs / Group Wedding Ceremonies
      • Parenting in Today’s World of Technology
  • collaborating with ACC Offices / Bishops / Council of Priests
  • providing opportunities for future growth and advancement of the Marriage and Family Life Programs
  • researching, analyzing, composing and creating Quinquennial Report for Family Life

Marriage and Family Life Programs and Resources:

  • Create and implement lifelong education for married couples
  • Develop teaching methodology for Marriage and Family Life Ministry Leadership
  • Create and utilize a plan to use social media to advertise the Marriage and Family Life Programs
  • Create and utilize a plan to use Social Media to recruit team couples for Marriage Preparation.
  • Redevelop new system to interact with parishes utilizing the Office of Family Life website
  • Emphasize continual development of the parish and school leader

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
  • MA
  • MFT License (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bi-Lingual (Preferred)
  • In addition to Associate Director duties, current knowledge of:
  • Current Media Processes and Principles
  • Economic and Accounting Principles
  • Current Advertisement Methods and Means
  • Organizational Development

Skill in:

  • Organizing Events
  • Public Speaking
  • Analyzing, establishing and implementing ministry programs for appropriateness to needs
  • Creating peer support programs
  • Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Sharepoint, ACECS, Navigator
  • Mid to Long Range Planning
  • Create effective marketing appeal

Ability to:

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping and walking.
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent walking, bending, stooping, reaching above at or below shoulder level, twisting, grasping, pushing, or pulling.
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
