JOB DUTIES:
As a Roman Catholic Chaplain, you will function independently to cover Roman Catholic pastoral care needs and collaborate with other Staff Chaplains and CPE Residents and Interns for on-going and interfaith spiritual care needs of patients, families, and staff. Supervision is provided by the Director of Spiritual Care. 
You will be responsible for the following: providing sacraments and pastoral/spiritual care to patients, families, and staff, both Catholic and interfaithplanning and providing leadership for special worship services, i.e. Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter, and Christmasoverseeing and assisting with Catholic volunteer programparticipating in working with a team of chaplains and religious leaders providing education on catholic pastoral/spiritual care to CPE studentsparticipating in 24/7 chaplain on-call rotation as scheduledsharing in other departmental responsibilities as requestedassisting in developing and maintaining community relations and emergency coverage for priest requests with St. Paul’s parishparticipating in ethical decision making process with patients, families, and staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications Capable of theological and spiritual reflections with persons.
Excellent communication and pastoral/spiritual counseling skills.Flexibility, genuineness, sensitivity, and willingness to assist in other areas of spiritual/pastoral care duties.M. Div. or Equivalent Minimum of 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE accredited center.Openness and interest in learning new skills and abilities in hospital ministry.
Ordination and Endorsement by Roman Catholic Ecclesiastical authority; Board Certified by NACC or APC, or board certification eligible.Sensitivity to diverse religious and cultural practices and values.
Skill and knowledge in administering sacraments of Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick, and leading worshipAbility to:
· be organized, responsible and dependable· be with very ill patients and distraught families
· establish and maintain collaborative and cooperative working relationships with staff members, managers, volunteers, administrators, patients, families, and community religious leaders
· function collegially in a multi-faith multi-cultural staff environment· function effectively in crisis and under stress· function on an interdisciplinary health care team in the delivery of care
· interact diplomatically with the public
· provide pastoral/spiritual care on an interfaith basis and articulate spiritual assessment of patients and families
· work collegially within Spiritual Care DepartmentSkill in· providing pastoral care for bereaved and grieving persons, and providing crisis ministry
· relating well with students and other professionals
· articulating ethical and moral concerns of patients that arise from medical practice delivery of services to patients
Ability to speak Spanish preferred
