Position Summary
The Director of Advancement and Alumnae Engagement of Notre Dame Academy has the primary responsibility for achieving the advancement goals for NDA high school by engaging NDA constituents and stakeholders in the financial health of NDA. The Director establishes long-lasting relationships with existing donors, potential donors, corporations, foundations and new prospects by promoting NDA’s mission and invites them to partner with NDA in the education of young women today and in the future. The Director solicits for donations, major gifts, estate planning, scholarship endowment, scholarship funding and future capital projects.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
Lead advancement efforts by designing short and long-range plans and objectives, setting fundraising goals and engaging alumnae, parents, past parents, foundations and corporate partners
Proactively steward all relationships
Partner with President to promote the mission and the vision of NDA
Work with Board members and advancement committee to reinforce their giving and assist in broadening our constituent base via their outreach
Plan and analyze programs and ‘asks’, research new foundations, corporate funders and partnerships
Board committee work, budgets, software/data collections, thank you outreach
Lead re-engagement efforts
Plan campaigns around annual fund and tuition assistance initiatives
Act as Director of Alumnae Engagement
Develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive and systematic annual plan for alumnae engagement to include strategies, initiatives and programs
Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumnae locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
Plan, implement, and promote alumnae engagement programs
Plan, organize, and execute all alumnae events including reunions, regional and local alum gatherings and new events to be developed especially networking for alumnae
Manage alumnae engagement networking platform
Model the values of and support the teachings of the Catholic Church
Support building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all students, faculty and staff
Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise 1-5 staff members
Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles is a private, all-girls, Catholic high school founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1949. Strong planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, set goals and objectives, organize or schedule other people and tasks
Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education and the mission and values of NDA
Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills to focus on solving conflict, not blaming; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others’ ideas; and trying new things
Strong delegation skills to match responsibility to the person, give authority to work independently; set expectations and monitor delegated activities; provide recognition for results; and delegate to volunteers as well as staff members
Strong leadership skills to lead and support various volunteer committees; exhibit confidence in self and others; inspire and motivate others to perform well; effectively influence actions and opinions of others; accept feedback from others; and give appropriate recognition to others
Excellent writing and editing skills
Strong competency for managing multiple tasks and meeting multiple deadlines
Proficiency in a design platform (Adobe, Print Shop, Canva) as well as Word Merges, Google Drive, and Excel
Knowledge of grant writing and procurement
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Minimum one to three years of development experience
Have effectively designed and implemented annual and planned giving programs
Successful cultivation and solicitation of major donors
Effective management of capital campaigns
