MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Promotes and carries out the Lasallian mission and its Core Principles
Design and/or implement courses and units that effectively promote department outcomes and adhere to the scope and sequence as determined by the department;
Plan what students will learn, how they will learn and how they will be assessed within a framework that features common assignments and assessments appropriate to the grade level within the academic discipline;
Engage students in an active, effective learning environment;
Collaborate with peers to develop, review and improve curriculum;
Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile appropriate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning;
Communicate consistently with students, parents and school personnel;
Work with appropriate administrators, the Learning Specialist, and/or counselors to support students that may have special learning needs;
Keep current and complete grading and attendance records;

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGLISH
Undergraduate degree in English and/or Humanities;
Ability to work collaboratively to promote student learning;
Teaching credentials or working toward it.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENGLISH
Experience working with high school students;
Experience as a classroom teacher;
Facility with web-based learning and/or digital resources;
Master’s Degree in English or single subject teaching credential;
Experience teaching AP-level coursework, especially AP Language and Composition
Experience in a Catholic high school setting.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
