ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they must conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Provide fingerprinting services for individuals, parishes, and schools that require such services.
- Assist the Investigative Coordinator on investigations on an as-needed basis.
- Work with Archdiocese entities to schedule on-site Live Scan Sessions for Fingerprinting.
- Schedule Live Scan Operators for onsite Live Scan Sessions for Fingerprinting.
- Track and maintain Volunteer/Paid Personnel Information Network (VPIN) user database.
- Work with Archdiocese entities to schedule on-site VPIN Training Sessions.
- Develop, provide, and maintain VPIN Training for all VPIN users.
- Provide Help Desk services in answering phones or emails and provide answers to questions or escalate concerns, issues, or complaints regarding fingerprinting-to-Fingerprinting Manager as needed.
- Maintain VPIN database services for archdiocesan parishes and schools.
- Provide analysis and solutions as requested for all problems that arise within the Fingerprinting Department and the VPIN Database in collaboration with the Fingerprinting Manager, Database Manager, and Fingerprinting Staff.
- Periodically visit Fingerprinting Site Sessions providing assistance and guidance as needed.
- Enter data and generate reports for the Fingerprinting VPIN Database.
- Setup, organize, update, and maintain files and file documents.
- Proofreads correspondence, memos, reports, and other documents.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience is likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Department of Justice Clearance passed.
- Have a valid California Driver's License and Auto insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- The mission and organizational structure of the Catholic Church.
- Understand why fingerprinting is required and necessary.
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of current word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Record keeping methods and procedures.
Skills in:
- Typing at a minimum of 45 wpm.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with all types of personalities.
- Report assembling.
- Telephone and electronic communications.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to:
- Pass a background check and obtain a DOJ Criminal Offender Report Information (CORI) Reporter License.
- Pass a background check and obtain a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan Operator License
- Understand the Fingerprint process and operate a live scan machine.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Maintain complete confidentiality.
- Operate standard office equipment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Occasionally lift to 40 pounds.
- Sit for sustained periods daily while performing office duties
- Sit and stand for sustained periods while performing training and live scan duties.
- Perform tasks requiring intermittent walking, bending, stooping, reaching above or below shoulder level, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling.
- Operation of computers, live scan machines, and office equipment
- Lift live scan machines and related equipment
- Set up chairs and tables as needed
- Exposure to the office or indoor environment noise and temperature levels
- Lifting of live scan machines and related equipment
