Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Human Resource and Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the finance, accounting, payroll and human resource functions for the school. The ideal candidate is organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.

Verbum Dei Jesuit High School is a Jesuit, Catholic high school located in Watts with an enrollment of approximately 320 students. Position Description

  • Supports and facilitates the human resources, finance, and payroll functions through administrative and clerical functions.
  • Provides excellent customer service by effectively responding to internal and external inquiries and requests.
  • Prepares and maintains employee files and records; prepares and disseminates onboarding and employment documentation while ensuring compliance with school policies, laws and regulations; conducts new employee orientations
  • Reviews and audits payroll, benefits and/or other HR/Finance programs and recommends corrective action to ensure compliance with school policies.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes and verifies invoices related to accounts payable, escalating problems or disputes to their supervisor.
  • Maintains accounts payable files and verifies purchase documentation and approvals for purchasing card transactions.
  • Prepares accounts receivable invoices, posts payments, monitors and follows up with delinquent accounts; completes daily bank account reconciliations.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Salary
$21.62 – $25.50 DOE

Requirements

  • One (1) year related experience
  • Proficient with MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience with payroll and employee benefit systems, accounting software and applicant tracking services
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills
  • Disciplined self-starter with an openness to growth and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A commitment to Catholic education, professional integrity, and moral character
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with low-income, urban students and families

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in business, administration, finance, human resources, or related-subject

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
