ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Recruitment and Placement: Provide training, and guidance to ensure compliance with pre-employment and post job offer employment laws as well as Archdiocese policies. Advise and guide Catholic school principals in ensuring recruitment best practices, policies and employment law are followed in teacher and school staff as regards the recruitment, selection and the hiring process. Provide training to school principals in this regard as needed.

Classification and Compensation: . Consult with DCS leadership on developing organizational structures that enhance effectiveness and reduce administrative costs within the DCS and at Catholic schools. Consult with DCS and HR on writing and developing job descriptions to meet staffing needs. Provide consultation on salary administration and recommend appropriate salary actions.

Employee Relations, Diversity and EEO: Serve as a local resource and advisor to DCS leadership and Catholic School administrators on employee relations issues , performance management, progressive discipline, termination according to Archdiocese policies and applicable employment laws. Conduct DCS employee conduct investigations and advise on catholic school on same. Provide leadership and guidance to Catholic schools and the DCS to promote and advance diversity efforts and assure equal opportunity in all hiring, promotion, and related HR decision making.

Benefits and Leave Administration: Assist employees in addressing questions or issues regarding benefits, time reporting, or leave issues in consultation with appropriate specialists in HR. Assure that key benefits and payroll information is appropriately disseminated within Catholic schools and the DCS when requested by HR. Provide oversight of time reporting practices and business processes within Catholic schools and the DCS to assure accuracy and timeliness.

Policy, Planning and Process Improvement: Develop, plan, and implement human resources policies, procedures, and best practices for Catholic schools and the DCS. Collaborate with ADLA central offices in implementing new business processes within Catholic schools and suggest opportunities for improvement or change. Develop and deliver training programs for Catholic schools and the DCS (e.g., live presentations, webinars, or contracting with vendors, etc.).

HR reporting, data management and systems: Assure that HR transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner in Catholic schools and the DCS with attention to data integrity. Track and analyze key metrics to monitor stakeholder satisfaction and continuously improve HR service delivery to Catholic schools and the DCS. Produce reports and analysis for DCS leadership regarding human resources trends and metrics utilizing relevant institutional or local reporting tools.

Supervision: Provide supervision and oversight of assigned HR and administrative support staff including hiring, coaching, training, work assignments, and managing performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work

  • Knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, sound business judgment, tact and diplomacy, and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the DCS and Catholic schools.
  • Bachelors degree in human resources or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Six (6) years or greater of professional-level human resources experience in a setting of similar scope and complexity to the ADLA Catholic schools network.
  • An advanced degree in a field of study directly relevant to human resources may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.
  • A strong working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations with prior experience in coordinating or managing some combination of recruitment, compensation, employee relations, position classification or employee benefits matters.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Large district school governance and administration preferred
  • Utilization of social media recruitment tools.
  • Federal, state, and local employment laws, wage and hour laws, employee relations investigation and resolution, benefits administration, compensation structures, recruitment, placement, retention, employee and organizational development, HRIS data analysis and providing relevant metrics

Skill in:

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HRIS.
  • Bilingual/Biliteral Skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Public Speaking
  • Developing training materials and conducting training via e-learning or in person

Ability to:

  • Travel within Archdiocese boundaries as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Operate standard computer, office and fingerprinting equipment.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasional walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above, at or below shoulder level, pushing, pulling, grasping.
  • Office or indoor noise and temperature levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
