MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ministry & Church Liaison will work within the chaplain department to assist with the spiritual care of the Emergency Services guests and staff at our DTLA and Angeles House locations; will work closely with our Emergency Services Multilingual Community to build partnerships with local churches, organizations, and affiliates.

MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON CORE WORK PRINCIPLE:

MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist with chapels/ devotions.
Teach weekly classes for guests.
Assist with the logistics related to ministry events.
Liaison for the men and women bible study groups.
Assist in leading prayer meetings.
Assist with crisis intervention, as needed.
Assist with meeting the needs of guests who want prayer, guidance, and support.
In collaboration with the chaplains, create activities to connect with and support guests.
Coordinate referral intakes, ensure proper documentation, and secure transportation, as needed.
Maintain timely and thorough case notes to aid the Case Management Team, as needed.
Conduct duties assigned by the Downtown and Angeles House Leadership Team, as needed.

Encourage guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.

MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Manual dexterity required.
Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
Ability to operate office equipment.

MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The office is clean, orderly, properly lit, and ventilated.
Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
This position predominantly works indoors in a high traffic office.

Requirements:
MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, social work, or a closely related field, preferred.
2-3 years of a ministry/church related background.
3+ years progressively responsible, related experience (social services, community relations).

MINISTRY & CHURCH LIAISON KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively in both orally and in writing.
A thorough knowledge of the behavior, character and emotional issues of the guests served at Angeles House and Downtown L.A.
Ability to manage time, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond to emergencies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
