POSITION SUMMARY:
Development Coordinator of the Partnership for Re-Entry Program (PREP) as a team member with PREP Director and Assistant Director. The Development Coordinator will work with the staff in the office in the various correspondence courses that are available to inmates within the California and out-of-state prison facilities and in prison visiting.
This position works closely with the Program Manager and Director of Partnership for Reentry Program (PREP) and is tasked with helping long-term offenders obtain insight into their crime in an effort to bring more healing to all those involved. As Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading workshops to meet the requirements for participant graduation, while also maintaining flexibility to meet the unforeseen issues and topics that may arise with the participants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, work to create a comprehensive schedule of the activities and topics specific to each workshop.
Maintain a strong and communicative relationship with the Chuckawalla administrative team throughout the workshop cycle.
Provide written workshop notes, including attendance numbers, incident reports, and overall topics and discussion that was covered, etc.
Prepare and deliver required reports in an accurate, timely, and easily understood format.
This position requires long-distance driving to and from Chuckawalla State Prison. A valid driver’s license and auto insurance is required.
Ensure safety and emotional well-being to the best of your ability through each individual workshop by providing support and guidance as seen fit.
Report any absences or behavior that is harmful to the workshop and its participants.

Collaborate, and keep open communication with, the PREP TEAM
Responsible for RAISING FRIENDS AND FUNDS for PREP and its programs
Research available programs/grants available through CDCR.
Research and do resource list of LA housing for non-lifers.
Envision the ministry of PREP in light of better advocating for and serving both inmates and parolees
Maintain and expand current outreach, resourcing and networking with similar organizations
Work with the staff in the office to keep the programs going, growing and developing
Work with local parole and with CDCR
Presently coordinate PREP courses
Daily operations of PREP
Oversees the PREP Board
Other responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in a related field
Experience in a non-profit or faith-based organization
Understands and accepts Restorative Justice principles and practices
Commitment to Gospel values and a consistent life ethic
Have compassion, appreciation and love for the incarcerated and parolee population
Computer experience in Outlook, Microsoft, Excel
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Archdiocesan and Church policies, procedures and organization
California prison system: CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation)
Understanding and appreciation of inmates and parolees
Grants available to re-entry, transition and reintegration program; grant writing
Outlook, Excel, Word, related software
Broad overview of PREP
Skills in:
Relating to staff working in various positions in PREP office
Weekly team (directors and staff) meetings for review of on-going progress and changes needed to improve work integrity and efficiency
Networking with outreach organizations
Organization and planning
Telephone communication
Office technology
Time management and setting priorities
Annual budgeting
Ability to:
Accompany the present director to the prisons to present the PREP program courses to the inmates when feasible
Work independently, cooperatively and responsibly as a PREP TEAM
Develop and maintain effective working team relationships with PREP staff
Address office, program, personnel needs as they arise
Gain knowledge of re-entry programs and grants/funds in CDCR
Continue to evaluate and assess the need for PREP programs
Use technology resources and possess typing, computer and spreadsheet skills sufficient to meet needs of job
Communicate effectively in written and oral form
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis.
Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
