About this event
What if preaching could do more than informing the mind? What if it could also be an instrument to transform the soul...of both the preacher and the listener? Have you ever considered what could happen if local churches (not just seminaries or Bible schools) could become the intentional breeding ground for the next generation of preachers? This training empowers local churches with practical tools to train preachers in their context. I hope to help pastors and church planters prepare secondary communicators - including youth leaders and others - to develop robustly theologically informed preaching pipelines. During this training, we will focus on:
- The devotional life of the preacher
- Principles of exegesis
- Discovering Christ in the text
- Connecting to the bigger story of Scripture
- Proclaiming the Gospel in every sermon
- Understanding your audience
- Developing a storied outline
- Defining your expectations practical and divine expectations
This training will be highly interactive to guide participants to craft a sermon by the end of the training (while learning how to help others prepare an address). The structure and content of this training are done so that seasoned and beginning preachers can all know how to preach practical sermons and train others to do so. Each participant will:
- Receive a hard copy of Beholding and Proclaiming: Reimagining the Art of Preaching, Reclaiming the Training of Preachers- Enjoy a great lunch- Coffee, snacks, and beverages will be provided throughout the day.
