About The Position
The College Counseling Office at Grace Church School seeks a new full-time Associate Director of College Counseling to join a team of two Directors and an Assistant to the College Office. The position start date is July 1, 2022. This is a 12-month position.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
- Manage a counseling caseload with support from the Directors
- Provide honest, compassionate and comprehensive advising to students and families, informed by data and practical experience
- Co-teach weekly classes to juniors and seniors
- Produce eloquent and inspiring letters of recommendation
- Guide students and families through the need-based financial aid application process, as appropriate
- Provide support to students as they write and submit their applications
- Maintain clear and accurate data and written reports
- Stay up-to-date with trends in the field and specific to our office
- Maintain and develop relationships with college admissions representatives, including onsite and virtual visits and during the College Fair
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Participate in evening and/or weekend programming, as scheduled
- Participate in the life of the School beyond our office
 
Expected Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required and a master's degree is preferred
- At least three years of experience in college counseling or in college admissions
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with all stakeholders, internal and external, in groups and individually
- Highly ethical, confident, flexible, cognizant of boundaries, and in possession of excellent judgment; sense of humor
- Demonstrated ability to work with others effectively during high-pressure times
- Experience working successfully with high school students and with families reflecting a diversity of perspectives
- Demonstrated commitment to DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging) work
