Job Summary: This position will be coaching a team for the Riverside Hawks. This position is responsible for their team's basketball operations, character development and providing direction to their athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in the game of basketball. Must be able to instruct players at practice and during games, and carry out all education initiatives of the program

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Exercise complete control over coaching the team, including recruiting, practices, team selection, behavior, and participation.
  • Recognize the student athlete's primary purpose at Riverside Hawks is to be a Student-Athlete. This means an emphasis must be placed on Academics as well as Athletics. • Keep informed and comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the governing bodies and College policies and procedures.
  • Always supervise the conduct of team members and demand the highest standards of behavior as student-athletes are representatives of Riverside Hawks.
  • Be responsible for the physical condition of each team member and do not question or allow a student-athlete to participate if, in the opinion of the athletic trainer or a physician, it would be detrimental to the student's health.
  • Develop team schedules within mandated budget parameters. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXCEED YOUR BUDGET! • Recommend the selection of uniforms, equipment, and supplies to the Director of Athletics. Any uniform that a coach wants to be produced needs Riverside Approval.
  • Prepare and cooperate with the scheduling of housing, meals, and transportation for away events. •
  • Provide accurate and detailed information as requested. •
  • Facilitate the needs of and professionally work with the media.
  • Seek approval from the Director of Operations, Program Director, or Director of Athletics before entering into ANY contract or agreements with individuals or groups external to Riverside Hawks.
  • Prepare reports as requested and necessary on player's academic progress and submit recommendations for honors and recognition.
  • Prepare an annual report after each season.
  • Provide the Director of Athletics with a written statement of the suspensions, disciplinary actions, or release of any team members outlining the reason for the move.
  • Cooperate with the development of athletics budgets.
  • Make recommendations for hiring of assistant coaches and acceptance of volunteer coaches.
  • Administer assistant coaches' work, duties, and hours and assure their adherence to rules/policies.
  • Recruit student-athletes.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Understand the fundamentals of the game of basketball.
  • Have the ability to motivate players to reach their potential.
  • Must have exceptional leadership skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Be able to effectively handle stress and keep the temper in check.
  • Have the ability to notice small details.
  • Have the ability to interact with parents and families.

 


  • Expected to work in a hybrid remote work environment at least two times a week in the office. (Where applicable)
