GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK:
A. The cantor leads the sung responses of the congregation. An integral part of Catholic worship, the cantor either sings accompanied by an organ, piano or choir, or solos a cappella. The Cantor plans and hosts meetings, rehearsals, special chapel programs and workshops. The Cantor works along with the choir and the cantor for the congregation. Music and materials are provided from the chapel such as missals and paid and free subscriptions.
WORKING SCHEDULE:
A. Sunday(s) 0930 to 1030
B. Good Friday 1800 to 1900
C. Christmas Eve 1800 to 1900
D. Christmas Pageant 1800 to 1900 (day varies each year)
2. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Deportment:
a. The Cantor should present a neat and clean appearance and wear clothing that presents a professional image for a worship service.
b. The Cantor should have a cheerful attitude and interact well with people.
c. The Cantor should understand that the Chapel is used by various faith groups. This may require extra time setting up for service due to it being used by others during the week. Each faith group is responsible for setting up their own service. Storage facilities for religious items are provided in the Chapel.
Experience:
a. At least (1) year experience as a vocal soloist in churches/chapels and experience working with a choir within the past (5) years. A letter of recommendation from a Church, Parish or clergy member is required at time of quote submission
