The director of Young Adult Outreach is responsible for implementing the Cardinal’s vision for young adults, as well as overseeing and supervising the program leaders and associate program leaders of the Office of Young Adult Outreach. This unique position has become a vital platform of evangelism to New York’s young adults. To the vast and dynamic young adult community, the director is a central communicator and networker, facilitating growth and unity through personal relationships. With a powerful communications infrastructure at his or her disposal — including thousands of contacts and a global website — the director of Young Adult Outreach utilizes powerful and well-branded marketing tools in order to attract young adults seeking Catholic resources. By attending events and organizing meetings, the director becomes a highly visible leader in the Catholic community of New York and serves and advises clergy and Church leaders who wish to tailor their ministries to the needs of young adults. The director works with program leaders and associate program leaders to improve their strategic evangelization strategies and is very involved in the imminent growth and expansion of the program and its outreach throughout all the counties of the Archdiocese.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Regions and their program leaders.
  • Direct the activities and productivity of the department.
  • Provide training and guidance to program leaders and associate program leaders.
  • Ensure performance goals are set and met.
  • Represent the office and the Archdiocese to various young adult groups, other diocesan offices, larger community, etc.
  • Create office annual budget.
  • Help program leaders create opportunities for young adults to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ by directing them to the sacraments, overseeing the set up of events, and overseeing programs that will lead them to Christ.
  • Help program leaders create opportunities for young adults to get in contact with like-minded individuals.
  • Develop strategic plans for evangelization.
  • Promote events for young adults from various young adult communities.
  • Attend young adult events in all regions.
  • Conduct staff meetings.
  • Work with the director of evangelization at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the monthly Young Adult Mass.
  • Respond to daily requests from clergy, Archdiocesan employees, young adult leaders, etc. to provide resources and assistance.
  • Coordinate individual meetings with Church and civic leaders.
  • Oversee unique marketing materials and expansive outreach strategy.
  • Guide intra-diocesan communication to advance the interests of young adults.
  • Maintain knowledge and increase networking by attending appropriate workshops and conferences with other young adult and diocesan leaders.
  • Host biannual Archdiocesan-wide leader meetings.
  • Delegate duties to program leaders and associate program leaders.

Performance Standards:

  • Represent the Archdiocese in a professional and positive manner.
  • Implement all that is asked from the Archbishop, Vicar General, Chancellor, and Vice Chancellor.
  • Complete all reports on time, required by the Archdiocese.
  • Attend all meetings required by the Archdiocese, when possible.
  • Respond to every email within 48 hours from the young adult community.
  • Run all major events sponsored by the office.
  • Responsible for overseeing program leaders’ and associate program leaders’ work performance.
  • Responsible for the budget.

Requirements:

  • Committed to live, and ability to articulate, the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Minimum of Master’s Degree.
  • Strong leadership experience and abilities.
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent worker and thinker who can provide both vision and execution.
  • Marketing and branding abilities. Graphic design skills preferred.
  • Attend various young adult events, requiring nights and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
