Primary Purpose: This position will be the Church World Service (CWS) Refugee Welcome Services (RSW) representative responsible for coordinating, maintaining and expanding community involvement in welcoming newcomers. Under the direction of the Director of Community Sponsorship and Engagement this position will engage CWS member communions, denomination regional representatives, CWS refugee resettlement offices and local communities where CWS has affiliate offices in welcoming newcomers and educating the broader community about the importance of refugee resettlement. This role provides leadership and direction for community outreach among CWS refugee resettlement offices with an emphasis on communities of faith, and coordinates with the CWS Program and Advocacy Teams, including refugee organizers and refugee leadership teams. The organizer will be responsible for ensuring that each refugee and newcomer resettled through CWS receives community sponsorship and support by ensuring that those community members are trained on how to best help newcomers integrate and thrive.

Essential Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Sponsorship and Engagement, maintain relationships with CWS member communions, denomination representatives, faith communities, congregations, and local community groups.

In conjunction with CWS member communions and refugee resettlement offices, ensure that every newcomer resettled by CWS receives community sponsorship support, inclusive of co-sponsorship.

Assist in the recruitment of congregations and other faith communities for community sponsorship and refugee rights work.

Coordinate community outreach, involvement with local resettlement offices and affiliates, refugee leadership teams and community organizing efforts in line with the CWS mission.

Assist in efforts to educate, mobilize and organize community members to be in solidarity with immigrants and refugees.

Update training materials for the CWS network and partners on community outreach and involvement, as well as resources to assist with recruiting, training and supporting volunteers from local communities.

Resource database to assist local offices and denominations in tracking congregation, welcome team, and volunteer involvement.

Coordinate production of relevant social media content and communications materials to assist with Op-Eds, media advisories and videos demonstrating support for refugee resettlement.

Attend, provide resources and lead workshops on immigrants’ and refugee rights at denominational conferences and meetings.

Increase understanding about the connections between involvement in refugee resettlement, community organizing, and congregational vitality.

Maintain regular communication with CWS’ Resettlement and Integration programs unit to ensure information sharing and coordinated efforts and priorities.

Attend and present at relevant meetings, trainings, regional and denomination wide conferences.

Handle other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Skills:
Knowledge and experience in working with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office

Knowledge of Canva, Campaign Monitor, and WordPress preferred

Strong written and verbal presentation skills

Ability to maintain a high performance standard with attention to detail

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; ability to work effectively with partners and teams;

Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times to represent the professional and institutional interests of CWS;

Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.

Experience:
Experience working with faith communities

Knowledge of refugee resettlement

Previous experience working in grassroots or community organizing efforts

Expertise in community sponsorship and support needed for successful co-sponsorship strongly preferred

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience

This position is a remote role. Remote employees must be able to fulfil the following conditions:

Regular work hours must span core business hours 10AM-4PM Eastern time
