TITLE : Director of Children and Youth Ministries
PURPOSE: The role of the Director of Children and Youth Ministries accompanies and develops the spiritual growth of children, youth, and their families. They are responsible for developing programming and strategies for growth in these ministry areas, as well as assisting in pastoral care in the areas outlined below.
ACCOUNTABILITY : Reports to the Executive Minister. Partners with ministry leaders to achieve the above stated goals. This position is also accountable to Session.
HOURS: This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, including Sundays.
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree preferred in youth ministry, religious education.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years experience in children and/or youth ministries.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement a progressive-minded Bible-based Church School program on Sunday mornings
- Train, recruit, and support volunteer teachers
- Collaborate with the Family Music Ministries Coordinator
- Creatively support parents’ spiritual lives through programming that including learning, fellowship and service opportunities for families
- Teach, in collaboration with the Executive Minister, the Confirmation program
- Plan and lead Vacation Bible School
- Develop strategies to grow a more robust youth program
- Lead regular youth gatherings that include fellowship, learning and service opportunities
- Provide support to youth parents, including opportunities for their own spiritual growth as parents
- Work collaboratively with worship team to include children’s and youth ministry in visible ways in worship
- Reach out to local youth organizations for the purpose of identifying areas where First Church can become involved in outreach
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Familiarity with Reformed tradition and worship
Familiarity with curriculum for children and youth
