About the Position

Grace Church School seeks a drama teacher for its High School Division. Responsibilities of the position will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Teaching four levels of drama classes, covering: devised theater; popular acting methods (Stanislavski, Practical Aesthetics, Meisner, Adler); contemporary scene study; and Shakespeare
  • Teaching Advanced Theater Studies, the yearlong Drama Major, which is a mix of theater history and practice. Past classes have covered Ancient Greek drama, Lecoq/Neutral Mask, Commedia Dell'Arte, Clowning, Restoration Theater, The Well-Made Play and birth of Realism, Brecht, Post-Modern Theater, and Solo Performance
  • Co-teaching Musical Theater with the vocal music director
  • Supporting the student club Adventurous Audiences, which goes on monthly trips to see off-Broadway productions, including scheduling meetings to prepare for and/or debrief the shows
  • Directing the annual fall play and spring musical
  • Supervising and mentoring student directors for the annual student-run winter show
  • Provide opportunities for students to engage with theater professionals through guest speakers and special workshops
  • Seeking out, hiring, and managing guest artists and designers for productions
  • Serving as an advisor
  • Teaching additional lab classes and supervising independent projects

 


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience are required

Compensation

 


This is a full-time faculty position with an expected base salary of $67,000 - $149,080, commensurate with education and experience on the faculty salary scale
