Internship
This is a ministerial training program for the position of Spiritual Director for one of two sites in Brooklyn, NY and Newark, NJ. This is a 12-month academic internship, held virtually and in-person at the onsite locations. The training is ideal for seminary students or recent graduates. We will consider applicants who do not have the academic training but have a strong background and interest in New Thought Christology, process theology, practical spirituality or a related field.
The Spiritual Director Position is the Lead Minister for a local congregation in Triumph, The Church of the New Age, who is responsible for the wholistic spiritual formation of the community; the oversight of ministry activities and supervision of the ministry team and volunteers. This role is similar to pastoral ministry in which one assists the congregants to develop a comprehensive interior life that pays attention to God’s communication; mentor the congregants to grow in intimacy in their individual and collective communication with God; and to teach and model how they are to engage accordingly with the world in response to God’s inner prompting as they transform themselves and their communities.
Purpose of the Program
The Spiritual Director Internship Provides opportunities for:
1. Personal growth and development in a career path as an ordained minister in New Thought Christology
2. An understanding of the theological and psychological bases and process for wholistic becoming
3. Enhance communication skills within the formation of the Beloved Community
4. Enhance leadership skills in consensus building and unity in diversity
5. Develop skills in creating sacred spaces for communal gatherings and communal ritual making
The intern will receive a monthly stipend during the 12-month training period; and if successful in completing the program will have the opportunity to be considered for one of two full-time positions of Spiritual Director for Triumph, The Church of the New Age.
