Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial firm located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

The Investment Group is responsible for the successful and prudent investment of the retirement, health and insurance assets supporting the clergy and lay employees of the Episcopal Church.

The Private Equity (PE) Investment Analyst engages in investment diligence, analysis, monitoring and reporting with respect to the $4.0B global portfolio of venture and buyout managers, taking direction from senior investment professionals. Review and input of quarterly partnership data, analysis/reporting of manager and portfolio related information, and capture of relevant portfolio developments, are primary responsibilities. Other investment related tasks may be assigned including in asset classes other than PE. This position is part of CPG’s Analyst Program, the duration of which is expected to be three years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manager Oversight: Prepare quarterly manager summaries and analysis for review with Managing Directors.
Manager Interactions: As requested by Managing Directors, may occasionally attend meetings with investment managers and interact with operating personnel of investment managers.
Data Review and Input: Gather, review and input data from quarterly partnership financial statements as assigned, including net asset values and portfolio company financial/operating metrics.
Reporting: Provide performance, market values, and other reports to investment professionals for manager diligence, monitoring and reporting to the Investment Committee.. Follow developments related to portfolio IPOs, corporate transactions, and the private equity investing environment, and extract relevant data. Coordinate with Data and Analytics team for FIS Investran Database as required to perform above.

Familiarity with private equity industry, structures, and terminology.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel required.
Database and DoMo experience a plus.
Effective time management.
Intellectually curious mindset, with keen interest in investments and finance.
Strong analytical, quantitative and inter-personal skills.
Ability to meet deadlines is critical for investment decision making and Investment Committee reporting.

Occasional travel could be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required. Finance, economics, finance or accounting degree preferred.
Progress toward CFA/CAIA required before or after hire.
Additional investment education desirable.
1+ or more of relevant work experience.
Demonstrated academic/professional excellence
