Broadway Presbyterian Church Nursery School, a non-sectarian, progressive, developmentally-focused early childhood program for children ages 2-5, is hiring a part-time teacher for the 2022-23 school year.
We seek an experienced 2’s teacher to lead a two-year-old small play group two mornings a week. The playgroup runs from 9:30 to 11:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a group of 3-6 children.
The playgroup is a non-separation class, an introduction to school for very young children and their parents. The parent/caregiver attends the class, sitting in the designated area, observing and supporting the child if needed. The Play Group teacher can expect to work approximately 5 hours per week, late September through June, with occasional additional meeting times and regular school vacations off. Option to work extra paid hours as a floater/sub during the normal school year and in our six-week summer program.
A perfect position for an experienced teacher who enjoys parent education and wants a part-time job, a semi-retired teacher, or someone with significant experience working with twos and toddlers. Possibility to grow into a full-time position as we expand our twos programming. Work with a dedicated team of teachers in a setting that coheres with the developmental-interaction approach. Requirements: Licensed early childhood teacher, experience working with twos or toddlers, comfortable partnering with parents and talking about child development with parents. COVID-19 considerations:
We are currently following the NYC DOH guidelines for childcare, although we also continue to wear masks indoors for the time being. We will re-assess for the fall. All staff is required to be vaccinated and boosted.
