Church Publishing Incorporated, founded in 1918, is a publisher of trade books for general readers (inspiration, leadership, financial wellness, social justice), academic works and professional church resources including a suite of electronic products. CPI publishes The Book of Common Prayer, The Hymnal 1982, and content used in the liturgy, faith formation, and mission of The Episcopal Church.

A member of the Sales and Marketing team, the Marketing and Sales Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate product data for CPI products across all channels and facilitating the weekly flow of metadata to our distributor. They will drive product discoverability and sales by overseeing metadata optimization and ensure adherence to metadata best practices. They will gather and analyze sales and customer data to guide decision making, and create daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports. They will also support the Sales and Marketing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manage and maintain accurate metadata for all frontlist and backlist titles and prepare weekly ONIX file for distribution.
Review distribution feedback reports from distribution partner and troubleshoot accordingly.
Drive product discoverability and sales by overseeing metadata optimization and ensure alignment with metadata best practices.
Maintain metadata on company websites and other platforms including Edelweiss and CoreSource.
Ensure title management system is accurate and updated.
Keep up to date with industry-wide and distributor specific metadata guidelines, and communicate changes to the team.
Streamline sales and marketing procedures and create best practice documentation.
Gather and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
Analyze sales and operational data to guide decision making and strategy refinement and alignment.
Manage annual price increases.
Maintain contacts database and international bookstore directory.
Coordinate sales meetings.
Organize and create PowerPoint presentations for sales meetings.
Assist other teams with reports, sales data, and analytics.
Support the Marketing team with special projects.

Relevant experience managing business analytics and reporting and data management and administration (especially with publishing-specific metadata and ONIX).
Solid understanding of publishing functions and routines.
Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data with attention to detail and accuracy
Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
Denominational publishing experience, a plus.
Highly adept with Microsoft’s suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as ONIX and HTML.
Ability to keep on top of an ever-changing market needs and practices, and how they might improve upon existing company practices and products
Ability to travel with overnight stays as required by business

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated equivalent of proven work experience in combination with education will be considered.

Minimum 4 years of experience in data management, business analytics, and/or database management in the publishing industry; religious or denominational publishing experience is a plus.
