About the Position
This position is a half-year leave replacement position, with a start date of August 2023 and an expected end date of January 29, 2024. The counselor is part of a collaborative, cross-divisional, team-based structure with a high level of communication and collegiality. Active participation in a faculty culture of continuous learning, professional development, and intellectual growth is expected and supported.
The ideal candidate will:
- have experience, and find joy working with children in middle school
- work best in a collegial, collaborative environment
- embrace developing the role to fit their strengths and the needs of the school
- possess excellent people skills
- have experience with a diverse array of learners and families
In particular, the counselor will:
- provide counseling and crisis intervention and crisis intervention to students in the fifth through eighth grade
- facilitate group and individual student meetings
- perform classroom observations and provide support to faculty through push in
- meet with parents/guardians
- oversee management of evaluations and referrals
- serve on the student support and guidance team
- work in coordination with counselors, learning specialists, and outside providers to design and implement interventions
- meet regularly with the middle school division head
- offer faculty professional development and parent education
Qualifications
Candidates should have prior experience working in a school setting.
A master’s degree (or greater) in counseling, social work, or a related field is required. Licensure is desired, but not required.

Compensation
This is a full-time, temporary position with an expected base annualized salary of $67,000 - $149,080, commensurate with education and experience on the faculty salary scale.
