Job Description
Responsibilities include playing for one choral Eucharist Sunday, accompanying and directing an adult choir, and rehearsing with the choir once a week. The Sunday service, Rite II, includes hymns, service music, Psalm, and a Choir anthem.
Additional requirements include special services in line with the Liturgical seasons and two Evensongs a year, in Advent and Lent.
Weddings and funerals may occur either with members or people from the community according to availability.
Our ideal organist will work with the priest to select hymns for the Sunday liturgy. Also responsible for purchasing all music and music supplies from the Music budget. In the event of times off, I will try and secure a supply organist for those Sundays. The church has an extensive choral library.
Qualifications
The applicant should have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and an extensive experience with organ performance and choral conducting, specifically in the Anglican tradition.
Hours Per Week: 4 hours on-site plus time for preparation.
