The prayer room coordinator provides administrative support to the Director of Pray.NYC and the Director of Prayer Ministry. Their primary responsibility is to oversee and coordinate the prayer room schedule. This includes seasonal updates, communication with volunteers, upholding systems for finding subs, assisting in training volunteers, and other tasks as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Represent and uphold the culture of the Church of the City by demonstrating a solid work ethic, positive attitude, and learning posture.
  • Communicate with prayer room volunteers at the beginning of each ministry season to assess availability and create new serving teams
  • Create the prayer room schedule at the beginning of each ministry season
  • Assist the Director of Prayer ministry in running seasonal Prayer Room Orientation for volunteers
  • Create and manage prayer room planning center plans
  • Ensure that all responsibilities are covered every week for each prayer set
  • Learn each serving role in the prayer room and sub as needed
  • Oversee prayer room sets 1-2 days per week
  • Plan and lead agreed upon prayer sets each week
  • Manage prayer room GroupMe accounts
  • Meet with new volunteers for one-on-one training as needed
  • Assist Directors in caring for prayer room volunteers, such as seasonal gifts and pastoral care
  • Assist Directors in Pray.NYC-related communications, including social media posts and monthly Pray.NYC newsletters

Qualifications

A Christian in submission to the authority of the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, as evident in lifestyle. Subscribes to and fully agrees with Church of the City's Statement of Faith. Education: BA. or at least two years of Specified ministry training.

Skills: Must have general computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and iMac; protects confidential information; knowledge of general business practices; possess a strong work ethic; strong organizational skills and pays high attention to detail; strong communication skills (written and verbal); ability to adhere to deadlines and execute on tasks and handle multiple, diverse assignments; produce quality work and be accountable; manage time; ability to work well in team; demonstrate ability to be innovative and suggest change/improvements within scope of work; anticipates needs and creates efficient and effective processes; self-starter, self motivated and takes responsibility/ownership of tasks; thinks outside the box proactively, strategically and analytically; consistently takes initiative; demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing situations; demonstrate a high level of customer service, friendliness, and phone etiquette consistent with the culture of the organization.


Experience: At least two years of experience serving in ministry.
