Primary Purpose:

The Procurement Specialist oversees the procurement of goods and services according to applicable laws and policies enabling CWS to operate at an optimal level and as a responsible steward of our funding. In coordination with the Operations team, the Procurement Specialist will provide an efficient and ‘customer friendly’ service to other departments while thoroughly tracking every step of the process.

CWS seeks a motivated, detail-oriented individual with technical procurement and purchasing experience and knowledge. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style that complements the other members of the team and is guided by the strategic and operational objectives of CWS.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide procurement subject matter expertise across departments and ensure compliance of the procurement and purchasing policy
  • Research market sources and vendors to attain most cost-effective pricing for the purchase of commodities or goods.
  • Primary lead on managing bid solicitation from request stage to final award.
  • Design and utilize a digital system for the tracking, managing, and reporting of procurement related processes.
  • Develops and reviews purchasing procedures and methods
  • Managing and maintaining contracts with vendors and supplier relationships
  • Negotiating and drafting contract terms and conditions
  • Ensuring compliance with all internal policies, related laws and regulations
  • Analyzing and evaluating supplier performance
  • Supplies reports as needed and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Supports the Sr. Director for Global Operations and VP for Global Operations in implementing the operational systems and processes to undergird the organization in achieving its mission.
  • Standardizes policies and procedures and provides training and ongoing support to internal partners on implementing policies and procedures.
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, stakeholders, and community.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Skills and experience:

  • Procurement experience with at least 3 years of related experience, preferred in an international NGO environment.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business operations, procurement, and purchasing
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and create partnerships across departments

 


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field of study or equivalent in experience.
