ADAPP is seeking a Special Population Coalition Coordinator for the Forward South Bronx Coalition (FSBC) to fulfill the requirements of a 3-year grant. This dynamic position, located in the South Bronx, plays a key role in developing meaningful community-wide, evidence-based environmental strategies directly linked to the risk and protective factors related to reduce substance use among youth and adults. The Strategic Prevention Framework will be used as the planning model to address substance use prevention efforts among youth between ages 16 and 24 who are not currently working or employed. Duties of the coalition coordinator include needs assessment, surveys, strategic planning including a logic model, action plan and cultural responsiveness plan, health disparities impact statement, outcome data, member recruitment and retention, coordination of coalition meetings, implementation of initiatives, and assisting with reporting requirements for federal, state, and local funders. Other duties include managing coalition communications, planning and implementing substance use prevention campaigns and ensuring that the coalition is meeting the goals of the grant by monitoring progress and documenting outcomes.
FSBC’s goals are to prevent and reduce alcohol and other substances use among youth in the South Bronx (Longwood/Hunts Point)
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee and execute the day-to-day operations of the grant to fidelity
- Oversee and implement all deliverables as outlined in the grant workplan
- Act as the liaison and interact with community members and organizations
- Prepare proposals and grants
- Develop and monitor the projects’ activities
- Monitor grant reporting
- Organize monthly meetings, inform members, develop the agendas and compile minutes
- Monitor and provide content for coalition’s Facebook page and other social media platforms
- Report to the Project Director/Special Projects Manager and perform other duties as assigned as needed.
Necessary Skills:
- Knowledge of substance abuse prevention strategies
- Knowledge of community organizing and community coalition work
- Ability to work with diverse individuals from the community, i.e., legislators, schools, faith, civic organizations, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work some evenings and attend meetings outside of normal workday, as required
- Experience working with community and/or public health organizations
- Knowledge of Facebook and other social media platforms
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Health, Public Health or related field, with a minimum of 3 years’ work experience working with coalitions.
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, speak).
- Strong writing and speaking skills, organizational skills and the ability to interact with community members.
- Must have familiarity with the Longwood, Hunts Point community in the South Bronx communities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- Knowledge of federal and state substance use prevention grants a plus.
Travel is required to attend meetings and training sessions. Some out-of-state travel may be required as well as work outside normal business hours at night or on weekends to run meetings, attend events and/or trainings. The ability to travel between Throggs Neck and the South Bronx is a must.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
