Located throughout the New Jersey Counties of Passaic, Morris and Sussex, we provide professionally based social services, including Behavioral Health Programs, Veterans Services, Children’s Programs, Senior and Aging Services and much more.

Youth Worker

Hours: 20 Hours per week (Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Flexibility required to meet the needs of the program)

Location: Paterson, NJ

JOB SUMMARY:
The Outreach Youth Worker is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for the youth. The duties of the Youth Worker are to motivate the group by implementing a program that will enhance the participant’s life skills, creativity and academic abilities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement activities geared towards a healthy, safe, and structured environment for youth ages 11-18. Activities may include (but not limited to): athletics (basketball, aerobics, yoga, etc.), performing arts (dance, music, singing, poetry, and talent shows), group sharing, life skills training, educational/vocational support, arts and crafts, games, etc.
Screen and supervise all youth, ensuring that a safe environment is maintained at all times.
Assist in the intake and enrollment process of the youth in the OTARY program.
Assist in documenting progress notes in the AWARDS system.
Ensure that the program participants information is correct and up to date
Assist in report writing and data collection.
Assist in the distribution of meals/snacks.
Responsible for preparation and clean up prior to arrival and departure of participants.
Ensure that all youth undergo initial registration and sign-in logs at all sessions.
Be a positive role model to all the youth participating in the program.
Must attend monthly staff meetings.
Must stay until all participants have departed.
Support the Program Director as needed.
Responsible that if any accidents occur (inside or outside) an incident and/or accident report is completed immediately.
Responsible to report any unusual occurrence or suspicion of child abuse to the Program Director.
Responsible for notifying the Program Director if calling out sick.
Responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time to support the effective and efficient operation of Catholic Charities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Valid Driver's License (not probationary)
Experience in a youth centered social service agency setting.
Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
Effective English written and verbal skills and ability to comply with instructions.
Ability to work in a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive manner.
Creativity, self-motivation, high enthusiasm, and great interest in youth issues are essential for this position.
Self-starter able to work independently, exercise good judgment without direct supervision, and understand the importance of confidentiality.
Ability to interact with teenagers and young adults.
Must be organized, detail-oriented, diligent, self-motivated, articulate and able to multi-task.
