Job Description / Duties

This position is the Assistant Worship Pastor who works closely and directly under the Worship Pastor.

Following duties in conjunction with the Worship Pastor:

  • Assist in effective programming and discipleship.
  • Pastor, disciple, and lead those in the worship ministry
  • Recruit and develop the spiritual lives of musicians in a collaborative rehearsal environment.
  • Help select weekly music of varying styles that enhances the total worship experience.
  • Plan and weekly lead rehearsals for the band specifically and vocals if needed.
  • Keep up to date on new music and other Christian Arts topics
  • Manage music needs for other events as needed, i.e., funerals, etc.
  • Support music in other church ministries (youth, children, etc.)
  • Attend weekly worship and staff meetings.
  • Make an impact on the future and the vision of the church.
  • With the Worship Pastor, be a pastor for the volunteers you will be working with.
  • You can be the "reality of Jesus Christ" by sharing Christ's love through personal evangelism, community service, and world missions.
  • The Assistant Worship Pastor will report to the Worship Pastor.
  • Works alongside the worship pastor to prepare annual worship ministry budgets.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A passion for worshiping and serving God is paramount for this role and a Pastor's heart to help others.
  • A four-year degree, music degree preferred; preferably including Christian Bible teaching; or School of Worship certificate
  • At least two years' experience leading worship with demonstrable success in a worship program and be drawn and challenged by the opportunity of a church experiencing significant growth.
  • This is not about performance – it's about leadership, possessing the ability and natural desire to lead people to worship.
  • Must desire and flourish working through and with people having a clear end in mind.
  • Be familiar with the various software that is used in worship arts.
  • Be a "team" worker—no personal kingdom building—everyone is working together for a singular vision.
  • Must have a "servant leadership" attitude. We have a positive attitude of humble service towards each other and the people we serve in and outside our church.
  • Must be relational, flexible, and adaptive.
  • Effective in communication one-on-one and with groups.

Personal Requirements

  • I have a gifted, dynamic vocalist with the ability to lead others in worship.
  • Plays guitar or keyboard proficiently (preferred)
  • Able to proficiently communicate with and musically lead a band.
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog sound reinforcement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of digital lighting consoles and Dmx dimming.
  • Working knowledge of digital presentation software (ProPresenter, Keynote, Powerpoint) and projection setup methods.
  • Experience using Planning Center Online for scheduling and providing resources to the worship team (preferred but not required).
  • Good organization, communication, leadership, and people skills.
  • A discipling heart for those they serve with and lead.
  • Approachable and Teachable.
  • Experience leading with a multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation.
