I. Youth/Student Ministry

Provide vision and direction to the youth at Roosevelt and those connected to Roosevelt, for the purpose of discipling our youth. The mission of this ministry is to give our youth an introduction to and foundation in Christianity and to provide space whereby they might each develop their own personal faith in Jesus. Goals for this ministry would be as follows:

· That each of our youth would express saving faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

· That our youth would have the tools to grow in their faith in the Lord.

· That our youth would develop the ability to think clearly and wisely understand our world from a Christian worldview perspective.

To accomplish this the youth ministry will include (but not be limited to) the following:

· Leading regular youth gatherings of youth including elements such as fellowship, Bible study, prayer, and spiritual formation.

· Developing a team of adults who can serve as discipleship mentors and friends to the youth.

· Regularly interacting with parents of the youth.

· Social support of the youth (ex. attending sports events, theater productions, etc.)

· Planning special events (ex. Christmas party, summer outings)

· Regular availability on Sunday mornings

· Any gatherings or meetings associated with youth and Grant Park as listed above

· Any necessary staff meetings

Other Expectations & Values:

· Develop leaders – Make sure some of your time goes to current and potential leaders who will listen to you and who you can develop as leaders.

· Equip the saints – Prepare people to do the work of the ministry. Don’t be stuck doing everything yourself. Get people to identify their gifts and then use them. Make sure everyone sees their responsibility to minister the gospel to each other.

· Learn constantly: Always read and listen to things that will sharpen you and help you grow.

· Honest communication among leadership: Share openly and offer sound advice and measured opinions while a decision is being considered, then champion and defend the decision after it is made.

· Discretion and trustworthiness: Use great care and wisdom about what you share with others. It is not healthy for everyone in the church to know every detail you are privy to, as you may be involved with information of an intensely personal and sensitive nature. You must be extremely cautious with what you share and how you share it.

· Work with integrity and work well: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ” (Col 3:23); “For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus” (1 Tim 3:13)

Ministry Goals: Identify at least two goals you have for your role. They should involve how you plan to further expand and improve in particular ministry areas in order to further advance the mission of Jesus through Roosevelt.
