Position Summary:

The Academy Staff Accountant will be responsible for developing strategies to achieve organizational goals. Duties include but are not limited to tuition collection and reconciliation, all aspects of enrollment related to financial, accounts payable, internal control, cash deposits/receipts, financial analysis, general accounting, and audit.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and provide input on finance policies, systems, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Enrollment support to families regarding all aspects of tuition and fees.
  • Reconciles bi-weekly tuition remittance reports between accounting systems.
  • Assists with monthly collections efforts.
  • Working with government subsidy programs for families and tuition.
  • Academy incurred/miscellaneous fees billing.
  • Weekly Accounts payable duties including but not limited to credit card reconciliations, expense reports review and invoice submittals in Concur accounting system.
  • Support staff with Concur accounting system.
  • Weekly deposits entering into Quickbooks.
  • Weekly support with Church count room activities as needed.
  • Assist in monthly closing of financial records and posting month-end information.
  • Responsible for monthly banking reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Research, collect, analyze and prepare financial data reports; synthesize complex or diverse information utilizing intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Ensure integrity of financial information in GL system and output reporting.
  • Assists Controller in all areas of accounting, including journal entries, GL maintenance, and database management.
  • Handles aspects of the Academy tuition assistance process, including correspondence with families regarding the application, awarding, follow-up, and entering awards into all appropriate systems.
  • Handles special projects and support with the annual audit.
  • Assist with other core accounting duties and special projects as requested.

 

Job-related Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Three or more years of accounting experience preferred
  • School accounting experience a plus

  • Familiarity with GAAP and the ability to apply this knowledge in various situations.

  • MS Office proficient, especially Excel
  • QuickBooks proficiency preferred.

  • Read, write, spell, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications obtained within ten days of employment.
