Develop and direct the discipleship and small group programming of the University and serve as a liaison with other campus programs that interface with the department. Develop anrunct artistic expression on PLNU's main campus, building a broader Worship Arts community and enfolding these gifts into the Chapel experience and smaller gatherings.

This role provides leadership in 2 main areas of ministry within the Office of Student Life and Formation: Discipleship and Creative Arts.

In the area of Discipleship, the role serves to develop and provide administrative leadership for various small group gatherings and programs. This will include selection and training of all teams and leaders, interfacing with other small group leaders on campus, and oversight of all logistical aspects of the groups. These programs include but are not limited to Discipleship Groups, Spiritual Mentoring, Men's Retreats, Women's Retreats, and various Faculty, Staff, and Student Discussion Groups.

In Creative Arts, the role works to identify and nurture various artistic gifts at PLNU, fostering a safe community where creatives can be mutually encouraged and inspired in their work. The desire is to help students recognize their creativity as part of God's image within them and to see the potential their artistic gifts have to open up a richer expression of personal and corporate worship. The hope and aim of the role are that many of these students will grow in their abilities and desire to use their creativity to help lead others in worship. Support is given to the corporate worship experience in Chapel and related gatherings, focusing on the environment, visuals, and interactive worship opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and supervise programs and structures which foster the spiritual formation and personal discipleship in collaboration with the University Chaplain (e.g., Discipleship Groups, Spiritual Mentoring, Men's Retreat, Women's Retreat, Senior Reflection Experience, etc.).

  • Advise and supervise student leader team and interns assigned to the discipleship programs office and creative arts. This includes training sessions for the student leadership team one evening per week and meetings with interns.

  • Develop connections between current PLNU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University to provide Spiritual mentoring.

  • Provide leadership and host the monthly evening Creative Arts gathering. This is a smaller and curated gathering mainly geared towards students involved in various artistic creativity.

  • Provide leadership and organization for monthly creative worship engagements designed for the broader student body to engage in worship through art.

  • Develop connections between current PLNU students and alumni who are active in the arts and engaged in Christthe ian faith.

  • Work with the Director of Worship Arts to incorporate a broader expression of arts within the chapel. This includes the recruitment of students but also the provision of guidelines and mentorship.

  • Develop and lead an annual Creative Arts retreat on spiritual formation and artistic development.

  • Serve on the Chapel Planning Committee, collaborating with ideas, themes, and aesthetic direction of Chapel, including ch,apel theme branding, art direction, and set-building.

  • Collaborate in the conceptualizing and executing of the following projects:

    • Fall Renewal Week prayer experience (Early-September)

    • Advent art direction for Brown Chapel (Late November)

    • Spring Renewal Week prayer experience (Mid-January)

    • Lent art direction for Brown Chapel (Mid-February)

    • Holy Week Prayer Path (Late March)

    • Easter art direction for Brown Chapel (Early April)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required, post-graduate degree preferred.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the university.

  • Theological training with an understanding of the Wesleyan tradition and liturgical practices.

  • She has demonstrated success with providing administrative leadership for small group discipleship programs, including selecting and training group leaders.

  • Strong communication and organization skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Ability to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift to 20 lbs throughout the day.
