Full Job Description

Title: Program Associate
Location: Remote (Southern California)

CWS Asylum Services, part of the Immigration and Refugee Program, provides comprehensive support to asylum seekers in the United States. This includes supporting reception at US southern border shelters, providing case management services across the US, offering remote support through the CWS Call Center, and providing legal services for asylum seekers.

The Program Specialist will work on a team focused on supporting migrant shelters at the US southern border.

CWS seeks a motivated, flexible, service and advocacy-driven individual to serve asProgram Specialist. Strong relationship skills and the ability to adapt to challenging environments are required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for border shelters and organizations in Southern California and Arizona.
Provide capacity building and technical assistance to border shelters as requested, utilizing best practices.
Assist shelters to develop systems such as volunteer management systems.
Contribute to building case management referral systems from shelters to national case management programs.
Collect information and resources useful to border shelters and share information with shelters.
Represent CWS on regional planning calls and keep informed of regional trends and border changes.
Develop relationships with local organizations involved with asylum seekers.
Support CWS program activities and grants development as needed.
Oversee distribution of material aid to all US border shelters through collaboration with CWS partners.
Oversee language translations and interpretation services.
Develop data tracking systems and databases.
Collectstories and content for social media, traditional media, and websites.
Other duties as assigned.

Professional Qualifications:
Experience working with asylum seekers and/or other migrants.
Experience working with border organizations is a plus.
Proven ability to work independently, be flexible, and adapt to changing realities.
Understanding of migration and the asylum process in the United States.
Experience with and understanding of immigrant cultures and experiences.
Unwavering commitment to social justice and the protection of migrants and asylum seekers
Strong technical skills, including excellent command of Google andMicrosoft suites, as well as social media, and basic website maintenance.
Ability to work from home remotely.
Ability to travel within Southern California and Arizona, and nationally.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
