Provide administrative support to Chapel Programming

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as assistant to all chapel-related tasks

  • Chapel Speaker Logistics: contact speakers and confirm dates; coordinate transportation, food, and lodging; hosting.

  • Chapel Program Logistics: coordinate with Chapel Planning Team and Worship Arts Team, weekly chapel set up and tear down in partnership with Chapel internship team; coordinate with University Chaplain/Dir. of Worship Arts the needed support for chapel.

  • Chapel Publications: coordinate all publicity; assist in developing and publishing Chapel calendar(s), serve as primary Chapel web pages editor, week chapel schedule e-mail, social media, help and produce chapel-related communication pieces.

  • Assist in summer preparation for student training in NSO & Student Life and Formation retreat at the beginning of the fall semester.

  • Maintain budget records, provide accounting and finance reports, and maintain a calendar for University Chaplain/Dir. of Worship Arts.

  • Provide supervision of student workers involved in Chapels.

  • Collect, import/export Chapel Scanning Data operates as a contact for chapel attendance for the PLNU community

  • We were served as EAC Liaison with University Chaplain to provide chapel accommodations for students.

  • Hiring and coordination of chapel scanning attendants and ushers throughout the academic year.

  • Assist as needed in overall Office of Student Life & Formation needs

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of office experience required. Proficiency with software such as Word, Windows, and Excel. Ability to type 50 wpm.

  • Ability to communicate and exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Point Loma community and the general public.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organization skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Strong writing and editing skills are required. Ability to compose correspondence using correct English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, format, and accurate proofreading.

  • Some proficiency in graphic design

  • Ability to organize and empower students in respective responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Ability to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift to 20 lbs throughout the day.
