Position Summary: The Director of Facilities and Safety will oversee and be responsible for all activities related to the upkeep, safety, and use of the multiple sites owned or leased belonging to the Rock Church. This role will direct physical operations including all buildings and grounds, utilities, energy management systems and safety/security systems to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment. The individual in this position is responsible for the scheduling and supervision of maintenance and repair activities, contracted services, and custodial services, and ensuring the physical operation of the Rock Church meets budgetary and strategic objectives.

 


Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for the oversight safety, security, and facility operations at all Rock facilities.
  • Lead a Facilities and Safety Leadership Team comprised of a Facility Manager, Safety Manager, and Décor Director.
  • Responsible for all real estate contracts and transactions including but not limited to:
    • All lease negotiations
    • Develop and manage a Process and Responsibility Flow Chart
    • Liaison to landlords in partnership with Campus Pastors/Operational Directors (e.g. Rock Thrift, Rockpile, etc.).
    • Provide the Facilities and Safety Leadership Team specific responsibilities for all real estate holdings for their specific roles of responsibility
  • Managing the Liberty Station Community Association (LSCA) relationship
  • Point person for all LSCA interactions, communications, and the like including:
    • Partners with internal departments to ensure that issues and concerns of the LSCA to Rock and Rock to LSCA are being addressed. (Safety manager becomes liaison for safety issues, facilities etc.)
  • Oversee all Facilities and Safety annual budgets and special requests, including working with campuses on their capital projects.
  • Liaison and partner with other ministry areas that need interaction, assistance, work product, etc. This would include the Academy and all Retail locations.
  • Set standards, processes, means, and methods for procurement to provide the greatest opportunity for discounts.
  • Work with the Controller to ensure the proper insurance is secured for all necessary operations related items
  • Meet with Executive Team regularly to ensure there is an understanding of emergent ministry needs or concerns.

Job Skills and Requirements:

 


  • College Degree desired but not essential or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management or other related fields with experience in managing team members and multi-site locations, preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the applicable Building Codes and Life Safety Codes, ADA, maintenance, HVAC and energy conservation, and OSHA.
  • Ability to read and understand Real Estate contracts and transactions.
  • Ability to understand architectural plans and direct construction of tenant improvements and site build-outs.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent organization skills.
  • Experienced in conflict resolution.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, good independent worker, a good leader of people and teams
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to anticipate next steps.
  • Demonstrated ability to react quickly and remain calm in emergency situations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to function independently and ability to speak. Physically able to lift up to 25lbs (with or without assistance). This position also may require long periods of standing up and walking.
