POSITION TITLE: Driver

DEPARTMENT: Refugee Services/ Support Services

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TIME COMITMENT: Full-time (40 hours/ week)

WORK SCHEDULE: Flexibility required, 40 hours per week. Based on need, off-hour (early morning, evening, weekend) duties may be assigned.

SALARY: $20.00

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting refugees with initial arrival, furnishings, and transportation. This position assists the resettlement program in support of the goals of cultural/community integration and self-sufficiency of newly arrived refugee families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
TRANSPORTING CLIENTS

Assist the resettlement program with newly arriving clients to set up apartments, and transport clients from airport to rented apartment and office.
Assist assigned refugee clients with transportation to welfare appointments for Food Stamps, MediCal and TANF.
Assist with transportation services for refugee clients at specific assigned health or social service appointments.
Assist with transportation of clients to/from the office, appointments, job interviews and worksite as assigned.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE

Assist with the maintenance and safety check of program vehicles including documenting mileage reports and oil / tune up records.

3. OTHER DUTIES

Assist with identifying, collecting, and tracking donations of household furnishings.
Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency, department, and program.
Cooperate with other program, department, and agency staff.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and to communicate clearly about job responsibilities.
Knowledge of/familiarity with/sensitivity to the cultural background of refugee populations served by the program.
Knowledge of/familiarity with or ability to learn quickly the resources and providers (governmental, civic, social, health, educational, economic, faith-based, etc.) that are available within the community/county to assist refugees.
Ability to contribute to and maintain accurate, complete and confidential records and reports.
Desired, high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
Desired, experience with professional standards of driving and transporting customers/clients and property
Ability to read, write and comprehend in English simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Bilingual in English and one other refugee language (Spanish preferred).
Ability to learn and become proficient with Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid California Driver’s License,
Safe driving record as demonstrated by a DMV report that shows no violations or restrictions.
Must successfully complete a DOJ live scan.
Tuberculin Skin Test.
CPR/ First Aid Certification (desired)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must travel to various locations as required by program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
