POSITION TITLE: Facilities and Operations Technician – San Diego

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Facilities and Operations Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TIME COMMITMENT: 40 hours per week, some night and weekend work

SALARY: $19.00-$22.00 per hour DOE

ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego was founded in 1919 to provide service to those in need, to be a witness to the scriptural values of mercy, to advocate for justice, and to call all people of goodwill to join in these efforts. The agency responds to the needs of the poor in two counties of the Roman Catholic Diocese, San Diego and Imperial.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for maintaining agency properties in a safe and orderly condition to ensure continuity of operations. Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled maintenance duties related to the Agency’s residential/ shelters, program, and office facilities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g., wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and

Tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.

Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacing or repairing leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of gutters, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g., preparing surfaces and using a brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks, handles, etc.).
Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate.

User needs and maximizes office space using various hand, power, specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks.

Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g., walls, refrigerators, coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve the wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g., sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
Order parts and maintain required documents.
Maintains the inventory of tools and maintenance equipment belonging to the Agency.
Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
As directed, removes from storage or places into storage: supplies, office equipment, furniture, etc.

2. MAINTENANCE ASSISTANCE AND WORK REQUESTS

Monitor calls for maintenance assistance when necessary.

b. On-call for urgent maintenance and repairs during business hours.

Responds to work requests and maintains a log of work completed and progress-to-date.
Responds to work requests from other locations as requested and authorized.
Assist with the pick-up and delivery of donations

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 2-3 years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience performing facility repairs and maintenance.
Must be able to travel to various locations within San Diego and Imperial Counties.
Ability to multi-task.
Computer experience in Microsoft Office Software.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 7. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and to employees of the agency.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid California Drivers' License and automobile insurance in compliance with Agency requirements. Excellent driving record. Must be able to pass DOJ/FBI Live Scan screening, Debarment clearance, and TB clearance,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 or 100 pounds with the aid of equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
