Position: Families Director

Location: San Diego, CA

Supervisor: Derrick Miller, Lead Pastor

Type: PT, 20-25 hrs/ wk

JOB SUMMARY

As the Families Director at MAKERS Church, you will be responsible for nurturing and leading a family ministry in a family-friendly, active, and growing neighborhood. The heart of your role is to use your gifts to call out, develop and teach our children and families to love God and others. This role requires someone who is a great connector, great at developing relationships, and will be comfortable in 1-1 settings with both children and parents.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leader of Leaders
  • Support, direct and lead parents to partner in their children's discipleship.
  • Directly supervise Youth and Kids Coordinators
  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteers to support ministry activities.
  • Create environments, both on Sunday and throughout the week, where children and families
  • intentionally move toward outcomes defined in our church’s strategic vision.
  • Oversees the coordination of support for families across ministry activities and events.
  • Stewardship of family ministry budget.
  • Oversee implementation of curriculum strategy for Family Ministries
  • Lead in organizational family ministry practices that meet safety, legal compliance, and other expectations in cooperation with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Communicates with Makers' Families about upcoming events, policies, procedures, and changes.
  • Participates in an assigned Sunday role (including Easter and Christmas)
  • Adhere to staff guidelines as presented in the employee handbook

  • Craft vision for the future and growth of a thriving family ministry.
  • Lead effective change management as the growth of our families ministry may include the launch of daycare and other potential learning spaces not directly related to church programming.

  • Must be an excellent communicator (written and verbal) with administrative/leadership skills
  • Must have a passion for Families (Parents, Youth, and Kids) ministry
  • Must have the ability to plan and facilitate events
  • Must be a self-starter, problem-solver, and leader able to innovate when necessary
  • Must be able to cast vision and recruit others to that vision
  • Must be a strategic Thinker and Decision Maker

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • A call to co-vocational ministry
  • Minimum 2-year full or part-time ministry experience or equivalent experience
  • Baptized Christian
