Meet City Lights:
City Lights Church is a new church plant located in Chula Vista, CA. We started with 20 people who made the cross-country move from North Carolina to California and some more great people who are native to the San Diego area. We feel that God called us to this place and time to create a disciple-making movement that culminates in planting churches. Our mission is to help those who feel far from God and far from home to know that they belong: at our tables, with our community, and in the story of Jesus. We moved here in June 2021 and started a movement by building relationships in our community, hosting community groups in our home, and prepping for our large group gathering in the spring of 2022.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ.
- Promote and be personally involved in the vision of our disciple-making movement.
- Continue to grow and develop the music team.
- Oversee the band and A/V teams. This includes scheduling of band members and tech team through planning center.
- Lead weekly band practice in preparation for weekend worship experiences and special events.
- Plan and lead the corporate music sets for City Lights worship experiences and special events.
- Be teachable and also willing to grow by learning from other music leaders.
What You Bring:
Qualifications & Skills
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
- Strong leadership qualities and a self-starter.
- 2 years of Music Ministry experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse demographic (ethnic/cultural and socio- economic).
- Commitment to moral purity.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, values, and worship philosophy of City Lights.
- Demonstrates excellence as a music leader with a desire to develop yourself and the team you lead.
- Care for people in a way that focuses on who they are over what they can or can’t do.
Vision for the Position:
- 1 year: The worship leader helps create an engaging worship experience that inspires people to trust and follow Jesus. Music team members feel thankful to be a part of the team and are thriving in the healthy culture that has been formed.
- 2 years: The worship leader continues to improve the overall excellence of the Sunday worship experience while also guarding the dynamic team culture. The congregation is growing in its desire and expression of worship. New talented and passionate worship- pers are joining the team because of the worship leader’s influence.
- 3 years+: The worship leader has become an equipper of others. They have raised up other music leaders who are capable of leading the congregation on Sundays and can also lead their own teams. One of these music leaders becomes an integral part of a new church planting team that is sent out to start another church that reaches people far from God.
