Qualifications

Ordained or in the process of ordination in the United Church of Christ or a denomination recognized by the UCC
•
Master of Divinity or similar education and experience
•
Experience with older adults
•
Excellent listener with a calm, non-anxious presence
•
Ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
•
Ability to get to people’s homes
•
San Diego, CA 92103: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Responsibilities
•
STATUS: Part-time (12 hours per month, plus worship)
•
The Pastor of Visitation will be responsible for providing pastoral care and regular visitation to members of the congregation, especially those who are unable to participate in worship or in the life of the congregation due to health concerns or physical limitation, whether short or long term
•
They will provide pastoral care when the Senior Pastor is unavailable
•
They will equip lay members to assist when possible
•
Connect with members of the congregation by visit, video visit, or phone call – with at least 12 people per month
•
Pray with members and bring communion if requested
•
Maintain an up-to-date roster of people with whom to stay in contact
•
Collaborate with the prayer ministry and Diaconate
•
Identify and coordinate lay members to assist with visitation
•
Help determine other needs church members may address or refer as needed
•
Consult regularly with the pastor
•
Participate in Sunday worship once per month, preach as needed
•
Other duties as requested
•
Keep track of hours for compensation and reimbursement of expenses
